Toledo needs a Mayor who has deep roots in this great city.  It needs someone who not only grew up here, but who's family has lived here, and cared for Toledo, for generations.

Rob's great-great grandfather, Karl Ludeman, emigrated to Toleo from Germany in 1859.  He worked on the railroads in and around Toledo, doing his part to make our city a transportation hub.

Rob's great grandfather, Henry, was born here in 1863. He worked in a brass foundry, making ship fittings for lake-going essels: helping to make Toledo a favored port-of-call, both for ships loading and unloading cargo, but also for ships needing repair and re-fitting.

Rob's grandfather was a bookkeeper for the Mike Owens Bottle Company and then for the newly formed Owens-Illinois Glass Co. He was in on the ground floor of the industry that made Toledo known world-wide, for its glass industry.

Rob's maternal grandfather, John Wunderley, was a wood patternmaker for the Electric Autolight Co., renowned for both its activist labor union activity and its great contributions to Toledo's auto industry.

Rob's father, Willis E. Ludeman, was a lawyer; first, for the Industrial Commission of Ohio, investigating workplace accidents for the benefit of labor, then in private practice, and finally, the Judge of the Probate Court of Lucas County.

For 135 years Rob's family has made Toledo their home of choice.  They have worked here, lived here, married-raised families-and died here, all because they believed in Toledo and its future.

Rob Ludeman has the deep, abiding love and respect for our city that only grows out of generations of hard work, perseverance and committment.

Elect a man who is dedicated to our city.  Elect Rob Ludeman Mayor.

I'd be glad to vote for Rob. But first, I want to see some leadership ability. When Rob should have been a voice of dissent on city council, he went along to get along far too often. The steam plant cronyism scandal is just 1 example where the citizenry saw a sweetheart deal between the mayor and some campaign donors and Rob went along with it because, "he voted "yes" as a favor to get some projects passed later down the line". Typical politics...yes. Fair to the people who are footing the bill for mayor cronies? NO. I'm going out of my way to find reasons (other than that Rob isn't Ford) to vote for the man. I'm in his district and he has not been a voice for me, nor a lot of others in this district. If he can't work in the best interest of 1 district, how can he work in the best interest of the entire city? Show me some leadership and I will throw my lot behind Rob 100% and bring in some friends too.

I have absolutely no intention of voting for Jack Ford.  I am glad we have a Republican candidate.  It is amazing to me though that all the deep roots of the Ludeman family were men.  Didn't you have any women in your family important enough to mention?  I notice stuff like that and it makes me wonder if you will have that blind spot if you are elected mayor.

Good point by the Thinking Woman.  Probably partly a factor of historical oppression. But I suspect also an ommision that demonstrates to me a lack of respect for the contributions of women to this great city.  Don't know about the rest of you folks, but my mother, grandmothers, aunts, and great aunts all worked thier tails off right here in Toledo making it a better place.  I owe a lot to them, I suspect Mr. Ludeman has the same debt to the women in his family.  Odd not to mention it though...

Dan,

Frank's gonna be a tad upset that you're not exclusive to his blog anymore. I mean, come on. Typical democrat tactics. Try doing something productive, ask the man something sensible. Out of all the postings on Rob's page, you chose gender to attack. Nice.

I'm curious, Dan, what exactly are you looking for in a mayor? Someone who, per chance, didn't have a woman of substantial power in his lineage? Try looking for "not corrupted", ok?

I must laugh, knowing Jack Ford got elected because the Blade didn't want Kest. Had nothing to do with Jack's ability, as clearly demonstrated over the last 3 and 1/2 years.

Keep your coattail riding, hinder-clensing drivel on Frank's page, you're making a fool of yourself wandering off like this.

Rob, you better get out there, these democrats are falling over themselves shoving feet into their mouths.
